BlueGT in Geneva today. Positioned as an extremely fuel-efficient, yet sporty vehicle, the Polo BlueGT is the first Volkswagen with cylinder deactivation.
The BlueGT uses the new 1.4 TSI which is the top engine in the entirely new EA211 series of petrol engines. With its 140HP (103kW) the compact Polo accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in just 7.9 seconds and then onto a top speed of 210km/h (130mph).

Meanwhile, thanks to the active cylinder management (ACT) and BlueMotion Technology (Stop/Start system, battery regeneration) with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG), the BlueGT achieves 4.5l/100km (62.8mpg imp) and 105g/km CO2. Keep in mind this is a petrol, not a diesel engine. Equipped with a six-speed manual transmission the BlueGT combined fuel consumption drops slightly to 4.7l/100 (60mpg imp) with a CO2 quotient of 108g/km - still quite impressive. As such, the Polo BlueGT closes the gap between the Polo 1.2 TSI (77 kW / 105 PS) and the Polo GTI (132 kW / 180 PS).

For appearances, the Polo BlueGT is distinguished with new 17-inch alloy wheels, GT badging, dual tailpipes and many standard features from the Polo GTI and Polo BlueMotion. GTI features include the rear spoiler, rear bumper with diffuser, front bumper and fog lights including daytime running lights. BlueMotion elements are the side sills and the front rain channels (outside on the windscreen). The Polo BlueGT also gets a black painted grille, R-line bumper vents and black side mirrors. To improve aerodynamics the Polo is lowered 15mm and has special underbody trim.
