What Mercedes-Benz called a concept at last November's LA Auto Show is being fashioned as the new limited production GLA 45 AMG Edition 1 at this week's Detroit motor show where the series is making its world premiere. The white colored Edition 1 with the flashy red and silver livery maintains the regular GLA 45 AMG's 2.0-liter turbocharged four with 355hp (360PS) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft), connected to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports dual clutch transmission and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, adding styling and aero mods. Exterior color options for this model are restricted to four options, the cirrus white seen on the display car, cosmos black, polar silver and mountain gray, while the interior is finished in red and black, with exclusive trims. Both the base GLA 45 AMG and the Edition 1 will go on sale in the USA in the fall of 2014 with prices to be announced. The truly all-new A class made its debut in Geneva today. Unlike its predecessor the 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback no longer looks like a mini MPV and now sports a hatch look.

From launch, Mercedes-Benz will offer a broad range of gasoline and diesel engines. The petrol lineup includes three four-cylinder options: the A180 with a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit producing 121hp (122PS), the A200 that uses a 154hp (156PS) version of the 1.6-liter unit and the A250 powered by a 2.0-liter turbo delivering 208hp (211PS)

On the diesel front, we find the A180 CDI with a 1.8-liter engine churning out 108hp (109PS) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft), the A200 CDI with the same unit rated at 134hp (136PS) and 300Nm (221 lb-ft), and the A220 CDI with a 2.2-liter turbocharged four delivering 168hp (170PS) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft).

All engines in the new A-Class come equipped with the ECO start/stop function as standard and can be combined either with a new six-speed manual gearbox or an optional 7G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The German company is also planning to introduce a flagship AMG model that will use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine possibly delivering well over 300-horses.

At the heart of AMG's latest creation, the ML 63 AMG lies the firm's new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine that is rated (in North American specification) at 518-horsepower and 516 lb-ft (700Nm), representing an increase of 15HP and 44 lb-ft over its predecessor.

And if that's not enough power, there's also an available AMG Performance Package boosts the V8 engine's output to 550HP and its maximum torque to 560 lb-ft (759Nm).

Mercedes-Benz says that acceleration from zero to 60 mph (96km/h) takes 4.7 seconds and 4.6 seconds for the 518HP and 550HP models respectively, while top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph and at 174 mph with the AMG Performance Package. Estimated combined fuel economy for both models is 16mpg US (14.7 lt/100km or 19.2mpg UK).

The ML 63 AMG is equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system that distributes engine power at a ratio of 40:60 to the front and rear axle, and a standard AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission featuring three driving modes - Controlled Efficiency (C) for improved fuel economy, Sport (S) and Manual (M). Mercedes notes that the SUV's standard ECO stop/start function is active only in the C driving mode.

For the first time, the AMG sports suspension with AIRMATIC Air Suspension, independent damper struts, automatic level control and Adaptive Damping System (ADS) is combined with the firm's ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM that features active stabilizers on the front and rear axles to compensate for body roll during cornering.

This any may other models will be making their presence felt at the upcoming LA Motor Show.

The Mercedes Benz CL 600 receives a make over from Brabus which resulted in the Brabus 800 Coupe which comes with increase of horsepower on top of the exterior and interior aesthetic enhancements to set it apart from the already upmarket CL 600.

The Mercedes-Benz CL 600 comes stock with a V12 that puts out 510-hp and 612 lb-ft, yet power mods are still where this tuner leaves its lasting impression. Brabus took the motor’s displacement to 6.3-liters, up from 5.5- liters, with a larger cylinder bore and forged pistons. Also, the tuner swapped out Benz’s turbo for its own, and replaced the standard crankshaft with one that has a longer stroke. The result? An awesome 788-hp and 1,047 lb-ft of torque (electronically limited to 811 lb-ft).
The five-speed automatic 800 Coupe gets all the way up to 217-mph before the electronic limiter kicks in, and the car does the century sprint in only 3.9 seconds.

Mods for the exterior include 21-inch wheels, a module that can lower the car down by 25mm, and gets stopping power provided by the tuner’s own high performance break system.
The interior is a high contrast mix of black Alcantara and white leather with diamond stitching, and has carbon fiber accents throughout the car, aluminum pedals, and a sport steering wheel.

In the year of the 125th anniversary of the automobile Maybach is displaying the Edition 125! at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. This unusual one-off piece presents exquisite new possibilities for individually styling the high-end saloons. The highlights include contour lighting and the laser-engraved light motif featuring the double-M in a curved triangle in the front armrest. The wide-ranging new individualisation options perfectly complement the confident air of the legendary Maybach saloons.

Maybach is constantly expanding its portfolio of high-quality equipment and appointments options. In the 125th anniversary year of the automobile the luxury brand is exhibiting a special one-off model, the Edition 125! at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in honour of the ingenious designer Wilhelm Maybach. This high-end luxury saloon displays many familiar and new individualisation options which only Maybach customers can select. Highlights of the saloon painted in the newly created special colours Tahiti Black/ Patagonia Silver are lavish contour lighting and the laser-engraved light motif in the front armrest, which represents the alluring double-M in a curved triangle illuminated from inside. The other new features include a glove compartment lid embroidered with the signature of Wilhelm Maybach, silver-coloured topstitching, trim in silver carbon fibre/black piano lacquer, matt black 20-inch wheels with high-sheen spokes plus a newly styled radiator grille.

All the current Maybach saloons have a confident, superior appearance and are strikingly radiant. The exceptional status enjoyed by the high-end luxury saloons finds its main emphasis in the new dominant chrome radiator grille, which is meticulously produced in two different variants. In the Maybach 57 and 62 models it has 20 fine longitudinal bars, and in the Maybach 57 S and 62 S twelve solid double louvres and a “shadow strut” flag up the vehicle’s tremendous power. Both arrow-shaped radiator grilles are also higher and boast significantly greater dimensions than before, and they have been assigned a more upright position.

The designers have elevated the modified bonnet and given it sharply defined contours. It has a contoured edge and appears distinctly arrow-shaped. A restyled, horizontally structured bumper trim gives the Maybach saloons an even broader look. Daytime driving lights featuring LED technology and bordered with a chrome insert have been integrated into the outer air intakes.

The new exterior mirrors with optimised aerodynamics for less driving noise harmonise with the striking front, whilst their large surface means improved vision. Dark red tail lights and chrome trim used on the handle in the boot lid lend the end section a powerful, distinguished look. This in turn is underlined by new high-sheen 21-spoke 19-inch wheels in titanium silver for the Maybach 57 and 62 models. The Maybach 57 S and 62 S models will in future be shod as standard with new 12-spoke 20-inch wheels in noble sterling silver. All models are available in the new Bahamas Blue paint.

Birthdays are special occasions – even more so if it's your 125th. For most people, reaching such an age is unlikely, but for Mercedes-Benz it is a fact this year and to celebrate the event, the German automaker unveiled a gullwing concept named -not too imaginatively- F 125! at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The F 125! is a plug-in hybrid that demonstrates Mercedes’ vision for a large luxury coupe of the not-so-far future. The company claims that while its previous research vehicles have “looked ahead” by one model generation or approximately seven to eight years, the F 125! concept “looks” much further, by more than two generations, beyond 2025.

“With the F 125! we want to show that large, comfortable and safe saloons have an excellent future, partly because they are able to operate with no emissions" says Mercedes’ head of Research and Development, Thomas Weber. "The legend is that the S-Class will continue into the future thanks to intelligent solutions.”

The F 125! utilizes a lithium-sulphur high-voltage and high energy density (350 Wh per kg at cell level) battery that powers four individual electric motors, one for each wheel, creating an all-wheel drive system that Mercedes names e4MATIC.

The car's hydrogen tank is integrated into the floor assembly and has a capacity of 7.5 kg. It can withstand pressure of up to 700 bars and offers a driving range of 1,000 km (622 miles).

According to Mercedes, the F 125! doesn’t sacrifice performance either, as it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

The bodywork is made of a mix of fibre-reinforced plastics, carbon fiber, aluminium and high-strength steel, resulting in great rigidity but with a significant weight reduction compared to a regular vehicle of this size.

Inside, Mercedes-Benz's designers wanted to create a cabin with which the driver will be able to interact intuitively. Tech highlights include 3D displays, projector-beam technology, next-generation networked telematics system with social media integration and remote control of vehicle functions., and of course, a semi-autonomous driving via the Advanced Driving System.

Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to wow the crowds that will storm the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show with a bunch of world premieres. Visitors will see, among others, the brand-new B-Class, the supercar-munching C63 AMG Black Series, and of course the third generation of Merc’s luxury SUV.
So less than two weeks before the IAA’s opening Mercedes decided to released a fresh batch of pictures of the new M-Class. We’ve already covered the model extensively since its launch, but for those of you who may have missed of forgotten about it, we’ll just lay down the basics once more time.

In Europe, the new M-Class will initially be available with a new 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel delivering 204HP and 500 Nm (368.8 lb-ft) of torque while retruning an average consumption of just 6.0 lt/100 (39.2 mpg). Next up is a 3.5-liter petrol V6 with an output of 302HP, 34HP more than the outgoing ML 350.

Then there is the ML350 BlueTec diesel powered by a 3.0-liter V6 with 240HP and 616.2 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque that returns a highway fuel consumption of 9.4 lt/100 km (25 mpg).

All models are equipped with a seven-speed auto gearbox as standard, while an On&Off-Road pack which changes the transmission and air-suspension settings to adapt to the conditions whatever the surface beneath the wheels may be, is optional.

Finally, later in the model's life cycle Mercedes is expected to add even more powerful versions, including an AMG-fettled X5M competitor with a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 – most likely the same unit that powers the Frankfurt-bound new SLK 55 AMG.
